String Quartet Part 2 – In the Shadow of Beethoven

We continue the exploration of the string quartet post-Beethoven, starting with Franz Schubert, and exploring some other composers of the 19th century Romantic era, including Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Dvorak, Hugo Wolf, Debussy, Ravel, and even Giuseppe Verdi. We will also look at the social dynamics of being in a string quartet, including how to put a performance together and what life is like while touring.
